Air Handling Unit (AHU) Installation

Overview

EnergyTech was commissioned to carry out the installation of Air Handling Units (AHUs) at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Team Valley. The works formed part of a wider upgrade to improve ventilation and environmental control within hospital theatres. The project scope included electrical installations within newly developed operating theatres as well as upgrades to existing theatre equipment, ensuring optimal air quality and system reliability throughout the facility.

Challenge

The project presented several challenges due to the hospital’s operational environment and a highly compressed programme. The client required completion within a strict deadline, which demanded efficient coordination and scheduling. Restricted site access and extremely hot working conditions further increased complexity, requiring careful management to maintain both safety and productivity without compromising quality.

Solution

EnergyTech adopted a structured and collaborative approach, with detailed planning and close communication between project management and on-site teams. Work was carefully sequenced to align with the hospital’s operational needs and other ongoing services. By maintaining rigorous safety standards, effective resource management, and proactive problem-solving, the team was able to deliver high-quality installations efficiently and within the required timeframe.

Outcome

All AHU installations were completed on schedule, to specification, and without any health and safety incidents. The client, Schneider Electric, expressed a high level of satisfaction, commending EnergyTech for the efficiency, quality, and professionalism demonstrated throughout the project. The successful delivery further strengthened the working relationship between Schneider Electric and EnergyTech, positioning the team for future healthcare sector collaborations.
